Newcastle vs Liverpool brings a major test in Matchweek 1

An away match at Newcastle gives Liverpool one of the more demanding opening assignments among the leading clubs. They then return home to face Nottingham Forest on August 29 before travelling to Ipswich Town on September 4.
Newcastle also face an interesting start. After Liverpool, they travel to Tottenham on August 29 before hosting Bournemouth on September 5. That creates two high-profile matches in their first three league rounds.
Arsenal face the clearest difficult early sequence
Arsenal begin their title defence at home against Coventry City on August 21, but the schedule becomes substantially harder immediately afterward.
Their second league match is away at Aston Villa on Monday, August 31. Six days later, Arsenal host Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on September 6. They then travel to Sunderland on September 12 before visiting Brighton on September 19.

Chelsea begin their campaign away at Fulham on August 24 before hosting Brighton on August 30. The Arsenal trip is therefore Chelsea’s first early meeting with another expected contender.
